Singleton residents to pay extra to keep weekly red bin collection

Singleton ratepayers will be slugged an extra $205 a year if they want to keep the weekly collection of their household rubbish.

The red bin pick-ups will move to once a fortnight from June 30 to coincide with the introduction of FOGO.

FOGO will be introduced in the town following a mandate from the EPA that it must be implemented across the state by 2023.

Muswellbrook Shire went to FOGO on 1 July last year and Upper Hunter Shire several years earlier.
