Bail refused for accused firefighting firebug

A Hunter Valley court has reportedly heard an RFS volunteer told them he deliberately started fires because he was bored.

18-year-old Jack Hardidge was refused bail after fronting court accused of lighting 13 fires over the past two months at various locations including Greta and Weston.

The Telegraph reports Magistrate Ron Maiden told the court the risk the apprentice refrigerator mechanic could light more fires could not be mitigated by possible house arrest or a substantial surety from his father.

He’ll face court again later this month.
