Muswellbrook Shire Council has made a final decision on the long-running red bin debacle.
Last night a proposal to provide free larger 240litre red bins to residents who want them was passed 9 votes to 3.
Councillors McNeill, Barry and Marshall were against the move.

Muswellbrook Mayor Jeff Drayton said this is the right decision for the community.
There’ll also be a return to weekly red bin collections for three weeks over the Christmas New Year period.
