Upper Hunter Shire Deputy Mayor Pat Ryan has defended the council’s decision to approve a development application for a new hangar project at Scone Airport.

Councillors voted 5-3 in favour of the DA which will see three hangar buildings constructed. Two are funded by government grants and the third, will be paid for by ratepayers, then put up for lease.

Councillor Ryan, who supported the motion, said construction of the third hangar is not guaranteed just yet with any final decision to still come back to councillors for a vote.
