Funding to investigate Scone horse tourism centre

The Upper Hunter is a step closer this morning to establishing another would-be tourist attraction.

Upper Hunter Shire Council has just been allocated $400,000 by the State Government to advance plans for a major tourism facility that celebrates the region’s unique place as the Horse Capital of Australia.

Minister for the Hunter, Yasmin Catley said this is one of three business cases supported in the latest round of the 34-million-dollar Business Case and Strategy Development Fund.

“The study will investigate potential sites and facilities for the centre, opportunities to link education and training opportunities to TAFE and the existing Hunter Equine Research Centre,” she said
