An Upper Hunter Shire councillor said he has grave concerns about a plan for the council to become a landlord of more hanger space at Scone Airport.

The Mayor, Maurice Collison has again led his group of supporters on council to back a motion to approve a D-A, which will see more ratepayers money spent at the massive loss-making facility.

The motion was supported 5-votes-to-3 despite the airport and Hunter Warbirds Museum running at a massive cost and leaving ratepayers with millions of dollars in debt.

One of three new buildings to be internally divided and offered up for lease to small plane owners. The initial construction of the other two proposed buildings will be paid for with government grants.

“I have grave concerns, on a personal level, that this will result in an ongoing expense to ratepayers, which just isn’t warranted,” Councillor Fraser said.

Last week the Hunter Valley Newsroom requested to speak to the council GM Greg McDonald for an interview but this was declined.
