A Rural Fire Service volunteer has escaped jail after being convicted of lighting numerous fires across the Hunter Valley.
The Herald reports Jack Hardidge from Aberglasslyn was yesterday sentenced to serve an Intensive Corrections Order and perform 250 hours of community service work.
The 19-year-old was charged in connection to 13 separate fires including one that came within metres of homes at Greta last year.
