A new analysis has found the number of home sales in the Hunter Valley are 30.7 percent down for the 12 months to May this year.
CoreLogic’s quarterly Regional Market Update reports there were 5914 properties sold here over the 12 months, which is also 16 percent lower than the five-year average.
Almost half of unit sales occurred in the 400 to 600 thousand dollars price range while for houses the largest chunk, 32.1 percent were within the 600 to 800 grand bracket.
The value of properties in the 12 months to July this year is down 5.8 percent for houses with an average value of $690,015.
Unit values are 1.9 percent lower with an average price of $508,000.
The time it takes to sell a home in the Hunter Valley has also increased.
A house is staying on the market in the Upper Hunter for an average of 53 days compared to 34 days a year ago.
Units are currently taking 43 days to sell, whereas it was taking 34 days 12 months ago.
