The New England Highway has reopened to traffic following a fire that forced its closure between Hebden Road and Lemington Road.

The busy roadway was shut in both directions after the blaze jumped the highway late yesterday afternoon forcing motorists to divert onto the Golden Highway.

The fire burned through 350 hectares during EXTREME FIRE DANGER conditions.
