Public submissions being sough on 33% rate rise

Upper Hunter Shire Council is one of six across the state that have requested approval for a special rate variation.

The council wants to up the rates by an extra 33 percent over the next four years to help pay down its crippling debt.

The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal is now seeking community feedback on the request.
