The Scone Thoroughbreds, Group 21 and the NSW Rugby League have all refused to answer questions about the immediate playing futures of two players charged with a serious sex crime.
25-year-old Ryan Michael Hawkshaw and 35-year-old multi-premiership winning first-grade star Hayden Charles Topliss are on bail after being charged with aggravated sexual assault in company.
Newcastle Local Court has heard the charge relates to an alleged incident in Scone in April last year.
Topliss is also charged with sexual touching which relates to a separate alleged incident two days before.
When we asked…the Thoroughbreds they had no comment, Group 21 referred us to the NSW Rugby League who refused to confirm if the NRL’s automatic no-fault stand-down policy applied.
After we ran the story on Monday morning a club official rang a work colleague here to tell us they were unhappy with what we broadcast in the news and that we were now banned from attending their home ground, Scone Park.
