Upper Hunter farmers banned from using DCPA

Australia’s chemical regulator said it had no choice but to immediately ban a herbicide used to control weeds on strawberry, vegetable and turf farms.

Earlier this month the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority imposed an immediate ban on the chemical D-C-P-A.

The Authority’s Doctor Sheila Logan said they’re now working with Upper Hunter producers and retailers.

The chemical was banned due to the risk it poses to unborn babies.
