More than 500 calls to the SES in the northern region including the Upper Hunter following that violent storm activity late yesterday and last night.
The majority of calls were for fallen trees and downed powerlines.
Aberdeen was one of the hardest hit areas with strong winds wreaking havoc. Winds of up to 69 kilometres per hour were recorded at the Muswellbrook weather station.

One home lost a roof, a shed ended up on a nearby road and trees and tree limbs are down all across the Upper Hunter.
Andrew Edmonds from the New South Wales State Emergency Service says he expects more calls for help to come in.
