Wind reaches almost 100 k’s per hour during storm

State Emergency Service units kept busy overnight cleaning up following that severe storm mid-afternoon yesterday.

Winds of up to almost 100 kilometres per hour were recorded in Singleton with traffic forced to slow right down due to that as well as the heavy rain, thunder and lightning.

The SES received over 30 calls for help from the town and a handful from the rest of the Upper Hunter.

Ausgrid crews worked late into the night to restore power to buildings in and around the town.

More than 1000 properties still have no power this morning.
